The eighth edition of the IME Nepal Literature Festival was held in Tal Barahi Chowk, Lakeside, Pokhara from the 13th to 16th of December, 2019. The IME Nepal Literature Festival is the biggest international literary festival in the country where authors, thinkers and literature connoisseurs of all kinds gather to discuss burning issues and celebrate literature.
The inaugural day of the IME Literature Festival had to be moved indoors due to turbulent weather conditions and the Barahi Chowk ground had to be closed down for the day. However, despite the weather there was considerable footfall present for the inaugural session in which Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Chairman of IME Group delivered his speech. After the inauguration, Civil Society Leader, Devendra Raj Panday gave a speech on ‘Democratic Development and Public Accountability’, which was followed by six other sessions that dealt with topics like literature, tourism, gender equality and federalism. The following three days we were blessed with amazing sunny weather, and the Barahi Chowk field was jam-packed with literature enthusiasts.
With IME Limited as the title sponsor of the Literature Festival, IME Pay also got a chance to act as payment partner for the stalls at the event, with attractive offers provided to customers. Cashbacks ranging from 20% up to 40% were offered at the stalls at the event venue as well as at restaurants and cafés across Lakeside, Pokhara. Among all the offers, the 40% cashback on book purchases via IME Pay at the Himalayan Reader’s Corner book stall proved to be the most popular amongst visitors. For the convenience of the visitors, the IME Pay team installed a booth beside the book stall to assist customers with app downloads and registration. There was also a team of agents present to load money on the customers’ IME Pay wallets. Downloads and transactions of IME Pay during the span of the Literature Festival surpassed expectations. The IME Nepal Literature Festival 2019 at Pokhara was a great success.
